Two suspects sought by St. Johns Deputies following shooting, death investigation

Jacksonville, FL — An active search is underway in St. Augustine for two suspects who may be connected to a shooting and death investigation. St. Johns County Sheriff’s Deputies say two other suspects were taken into custody.

Deputies initially responded around 2am to Usina Road and Cowan Road for reports of gunshots coming from a home.

A man was found dead outside the home.  No other details about the victim have been released.

As deputies were arriving, they were passed by a white vehicle that was fleeing the area.  Deputies found that vehicle abandoned at the end of Old Tyme Avenue.

“Deputy sheriff’s are positioned along the road. Every vehicle coming out of the community will be stopped so that we can ensure that none of them have been taken against their will, and that their vehicles are clear except for the individuals that should of been in them.” Says Commander Chuck Mulligan.

K-9 deputies searched the nearby woods, while SJSO searched by air.  Video footage from a nearby home showed four people fleeing from a car and into the woods at the dead end of Old Tyme Avenue.

One of the suspects was detained as of 6am, and a second just before 9am.  Deputies say the Two remaining suspects are believed to be in the woods near the St. Augustine Outlets. The sheriff’s office says one of the two they are looking for is described as a white man in his early 20’s and the other a very light skinned black man in his early 20’s.

St. Johns Deputies are asking anyone in the area of State Road 16 and I-95 to report suspicious people or activity by calling 911 immediately.
