JSO investigating multiple deadly shootings after violent weekend in Jacksonville

Jacksonville — Jacksonville Police are investigating multiple shootings across the city since Saturday night. According to police at least 3 people have died, and 4 others are wounded following the incidents.

The most recent shooting happened late Sunday night on Pearl Street near Brentwood Park on the northside. JSO says three people were shot outside of a house and one of those three has died. Police say the person who died is a black woman between 45-50 years old. Police say the victims tried running inside when the shooting happened and the other two people shot have been released from the hospital. Police say bullet fragments went inside the home where the victims children were and those fragments will be processed.

This incident follows multiple shootings in the Woodstock neighborhood on the westside from this past weekend. JSO says two men believed to be between 20 to 30 years old have non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting on Dennison Street near Edgewood Avenue late Sunday afternoon. Police did say one other man ended up with a minor injury connected to the shooting, but it wasn’t a gunshot wound.

Just hours before and a few blocks away, police say a black man believed to be in his mid-30’s died at a hospital after he was shot on Broadway Avenue. Police say they believe there are multiple suspects involved with this shooting and they don’t know yet if it is gang related. JSO says they did find a rifle close to a black minivan. Police say they are not sure if the rifle found was used in the shooting and they believe the black minivan is connected to the shooting. JSO says they are investigating to see if the Dennison Street and Broadway Avenue shootings are connected, but they are treating them as separate incidents.

Late Saturday night, police say a black man believed to be in his mid-20’s died after getting shot multiple times on Sophia Street near Commonwealth Avenue.

Police haven’t released the names of the people who have died nor have they released any suspect information on these shootings.

If you have any information on any of these shootings you’re urged to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers 1-866-845-TIPS.
