Hairy rescue: Firefighters have to get dog out of tree

LATHROP, Calif. — The stereotypical emergency call for firefighters responding to a cat in a tree got turned on its furry ear.

This time there was a cat, but the call came in because of a dog that was stuck on a high perch.

A German Shepard apparently didn't think things through when it chased a cat into the tree in Lathrop, California. It got up to almost the top and then couldn't come down, KPAX reported.

Rescue crews from Lathrop Manteca Fire Department responded to get the pup back to the ground.

They checked the dog out and gave him some oxygen and water before sending him on his way, KPAX reported.
