Airbnb issues warnings ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Airbnb is issuing a safety and anti-party warning as Duval, Nassau, St. Johns, and Clay have been approved to open vacation rentals in their counties.

In a press release, Airbnb states that under normal circumstances, hosts are the ones that can set rules for events and parties, however they say it’s very different times.

Parties will be prohibited at all Airbnb listings in Duval County, Nassau County, and St. Johns County until further notice. If parties are held, then those guests will be banned and Airbnb will cooperate with local law enforcement with any investigations.

To help limit parties and events, the company is disabling the “event-friendly” search filter.

In a previous press release, Airbnb has created a new cleaning protocol for hosts. Personal Protective Equipment and approved disinfectants should be used. If hosts can’t do this, then they have to have a vacancy period between bookings.
