Jacksonville, FL — The fatal shooting of a man by a person in a home on Attrill Road was justifiable, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened this weekend in a neighborhood off Old St. Augustine Road. Police say a person called 911 to report that a man was breaking windows in order to try to get in to the home. Someone in the home and the suspect got in a confrontation before police got on scene, and that led to the resident shooting the suspect, according to JSO.
Several people were in the home at the time.
JSO has now identified the suspect who died as 21-year-old John Batten. According to JSO, the shooting has been determined to be justifiable.
