Baker, St. Johns counties announce plan to make-up class time missed due to Hurricane Irma

Jacksonville, FL — With students in Northeast Florida public schools missing several days of class due to Hurricane Irma, school districts across the First Coast are announcing make-up days.

But there is some good news for students, the Florida Department of Education has decided to waive two days of make-up time, leaving the rest to the discretion of school districts.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY:

The St. Johns County School District says in addition to the two days waived by the Florida Department of Education, they will also waive two days.

That means students will only make-up two days, on the following dates:

Monday, October 16 (Planning Day/Student Holiday)

Friday, November 10 (Veterans Day)

BAKER COUNTY: 

The Baker County School District says they've decided to replace the 7 remaining early dismissal days, with regular full days of instruction.

That means instead of dismissing students two hours early on October 4th, November 1st, December 6th, February 14th, March 7th, March 30th, and May 11th, students will be dismissed at the regularly scheduled times.

Duval County, Clay County, and Nassau County public schools have yet to announce hurricane make-up days.
