Jacksonville, FL — Four months after he was accused of killing a woman in his home and then fleeing down I-95, Wilford Chason has now pleaded guilty.
Duval County court records show that change of plea took place today.
WOKV first told you back in October that Jennifer Herbert was found dead in a home on White Blossom Circle in Bartram Park. Police said at the time that they were prompted to do a welfare check at that scene, because Chason had admitted to killing a woman.
Chason was caught after OnStar called law enforcement for help with an apparently suicidal man who was speeding down I-95. OnStar reportedly helped slow the vehicle, although the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office still had to deploy stop sticks. Investigators say he confessed to the murder at that time, and later when he was taken to the Daytona Beach Police Department. Despite that, he initially pleaded not guilty in court.
Chason will be sentenced February 25th.
