JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 10:30 AM UPDATE: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the fatal crash occurred at 7 am on the 12300 block of McCormick Road.
Sgt. Hungerford from JSO said an elderly white male was riding a bicycle heading north on Kernan Blvd and made a left turn to travel westbound on McCormick Rd.
At the same time, a truck was heading west on McCormick Road and struck the bicyclist. Hungerford said the bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
JSO said this is the 117th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 4th involving a bicyclist.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is holding a briefing regarding a traffic fatality involving “a truck vs pedestrian” Wednesday morning.
JSO says the crash happened at Kernan Boulevard and McCormick Road.
