COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. — A 16-year-old from Fort White was arrested for calling the sheriff’s office and threatening to carry out a school shooting in 2024, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, an investigation began in Apr. 2024. During this time, several school threats were received by law enforcement across the United States.
A detective and School Resource Deputies identified the local teenager.
The sheriff’s office said they could not release “specific investigative methods,” but electronic evidence led back to the suspect.

The 16-year-old was arrested on Tuesday.
According to the news release, the suspect will face at least 48 counts of criminal charges associated with using a two-way communication device to make threats. He will be referred to adult court for his role in this case.
