City Council District 2 candidate: Al Ferraro

Name: Al Ferraro

Family: Married to Amy Ferraro with one daughter, Amanda.

Occupation: Small business owner since 1986

Political/Government experience: City Councilman for District 2 since 2015

Years lived in Jacksonville: 42 years

Campaign website: www.alferraro.com

Why did you decide to run for office: After becoming an "empty nester", I had more time to serve my community.

What is the biggest problem facing Jacksonville as a city overall, and how specifically would seek to address that: Public Safety, specifically crime. I have been endorsed by the Jacksonville Police because I have been supporting and working closely with the police. I have actively pursued greater citizen involvement with sheriff advisory committees, sheriff's walks and neighborhood watch committees in District 2. Greater citizen involvement needs to be encouraged city wide so that all citizens are safe.

What makes your constituents unique, and how would that influence your time in office: District 2 has one of largest land areas of any city district. It is exceptionally diverse with residential, industrial, and rural uses. Future growth needs to be smartly planned and responsible so that the diverse land use in District 2 is taken into account.

What would be your main budget priority for the upcoming fiscal year: Adequate funding for public safety and infrastructure which keeps pace with Jacksonville's growth.

How do you define what you hope Jacksonville will be ten years from now: The best area in Florida to work and raise a family.
