Most people are trying to keep their distance right now amid the coronavirus pandemic, but that can be tricky if your landlord wants to show someone the property you’re living in.
“There is nothing that would prevent that other than what would be polite and proper during coronavirus,” says Consumer Warrior Clark Howard.
Clark says the best option is to try to appeal to your landlord’s compassionate side if you don’t want someone walking through your living space. That’s because they’re within their legal rights to show a potential buyer the listing.
“What I would ask of your landlord is could your landlord come in and shoot video of your property and do a video tour,” Clark says.
He says that’s been happening a lot lately in the real estate market. You can also consider reminding your landlord that potential buyers might be scared to tour a property in person, so they could find a buyer easier if they take the virtual route.
