Clark Howard: What the T-Mobile and Sprint merger means for cellphone prices

Jacksonville, Fl. — Consumer Warrior Clark Howard says the new company would reduce the number of cellphone providers in the United States from four to three. Clark did say that less competition is bad for the consumer.

"In other countries, where the number of the cellphone providers have gone from four to three the price wars seem to cease, and over time prices moderately go higher for cellphone service."

Clark says Sprint is not strong enough to survive the transition from 4G to 5G, and that is driving the urgency of this proposed merger.
