Colorado State University predicts “slightly below average” Atlantic hurricane activity

Jacksonville, FL — In the first outlook of this upcoming hurricane season, Colorado State University has predicted “slightly below average” hurricane activity, although a slightly higher than normal number of storms overall.

The team at CSU characterizes their forecast as a "slightly below-average Atlantic hurricane season" for 2019. This is driven by the continuation of weak El Nino conditions and slightly below average sea surface temperatures.
