Jacksonville, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol reports a deadly crash on I-295 E. Beltway near Merrill Road. All lanes have now reopened after they were blocked for hours Wednesday morning.
A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officer was involved in the crash. According to JSO, One person died in the crash that involved four cars, including a JSO patrol car. Police say the officer and and another person were taken to the hospital and they are expected to survive their injuries.
We’re told a car going north on the East Beltway crossed over into the southbound side of the road.
The crash remains under investigation.
