Deputies arrest woman for child neglect, after young girl found naked in Orange Park roadway

Jacksonville, FL — A 32-year-old woman is facing a child neglect charge, after the Clay County Sheriff's Office says she failed to supervise a small child. That child was then reportedly found naked in an Orange Park roadway.

According to the arrest report for Jacqueline Walters, deputies say they received a call about the child from someone who was driving home on Polk Avenue, near Washington Avenue, on Tuesday morning, spotted the girl and then stopped to help.

The report says in addition to being naked and in the road, the girl's face was also dirty and she had feces on her body.

In the report, deputies say this area of Orange Park is 'extremely high traffic' as they feel had this driver not stopped, the girl 'would likely be injured or killed by an oncoming motorist.'

The girl is now in the custody of another family member. Walters was questioned about the incident by deputies, but her response was redacted in the report.
