Shots fired into a home in Jacksonville Beach, no one hurt, police say

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is investigating after shots were fired into a home on Monday morning.

Police responded around 6:40 a.m. to the 700 block of 2nd Avenue South, which is about three blocks south of Beach Boulevard.

Action News Jax spoke with a neighbor who described what she thought she heard on Monday morning.

“It sounded like it was fireworks, like ‘pow, pow, pow, pow,’ very quickly,” a neighbor named Belinda said.

Another neighbor told Action News Jax that there were 19 bullets fired at a home.

“It was very close and it kinda startled me because we don’t have that kind of activity in that area,” Belinda said.

Jacksonville Beach is not typically known for any violence, and this marked the second shooting investigation the Jacksonville Beach Police Department responded to in two weeks.

Last week, a shooting victim was found by police in the area of 1st Avenue South and 10th Street South.

That is about two blocks away from Monday’s reported shooting.

Police said no one was hurt from Monday’s shooting but they are continuing to investigate.
