St. Johns County officials are getting a snapshot of the damage done to public facilities and infrastructure by Hurricane Matthew.
The total damage done from the storm, based on preliminary assessments, totals $138,741,975, according to a St. Johns County government spokesperson.
The most significant cost to the county is from emergency sand loss on the beaches, amounting to $120 million.
Repairs to A1A South and A1A North from surge will cost more than $2.8 million, while the Ponte Vedra foot bridge will run the county $100,000.
Storm debris removal – including from county beaches, households and public facilities – will cost the county nearly $4 million.
The initial damage assessment for the entire county, including residential damage, was believed to exceed $2 billion from the storm.
