Early voting in Duval County starts Monday

If you're looking to beat the rush on election day, one option is to take advantage of the 20 early voting sites in Duval County.

They open for the first time on Monday and remain open until Nov. 4. Hours each day are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"Early voting is not like election day voting in that you can vote at any of those 20 sites," says Duval County Supervisor of Elections Mike Hogan.

He says they print the ballot on demand, so you'll get the same one you would have received if you went to your precinct on election day.

To prove you are a voter registered in Duval, you can bring one of 12 different types of identification. But Hogan says a drivers license is preferred because they can scan that to bring up your voter information.

A recent court ruling allows college campuses to serve as early voting sites, so for the first time you can do so at the University of North Florida or Edward Waters College.

People who live near Edward Waters will be familiar with the location, since it's been a regular precinct for years, Hogan says.

"It's right in the heart of the campus," he says.

Hogan says early voting should cut down on some of the stress you've come to expect on election day, and the Supervisor of Elections website has more information on early voting.
