Every vote counts: Two votes separate candidates in Atlantic Beach City Commission race

2026 Election Results

Jacksonville, Fl — The race for Atlantic Beach City Commission Seat 4 may be headed to a recount.

Just two votes separate Lisa Herrold and Jennifer Lagner.

Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland tells Jacksonville’s Morning News that on Tuesday night, Lagner was up by one. But every vote-by-mail must be counted before elections staff goes home for the night. Once that was completed, Herrold went up by five.

“Then after going through all of the provisional ballots, then it was reduced to two. But it’s not over,” Holland said.

Any overseas ballots that come in that were postmarked Tuesday or before will be counted. And vote-by-mail cures, which came in either unsigned or with an unmatched signature, have until 5:00 pm to prove signature.

“We will get the unofficial results by the end of this week because of the cures for vote-by-mail. And so we will do a recount, probably most likely scheduled on Monday,” Holland said.

Candace Kelly is the current commissioner for Seat 4, with her term running through December 14, 2026.

The Atlantic Beach commission race is the only one in Duval County that appears headed to a recount.
