Two weeks after a deadly crash in St. Augustine Beach, FHP is asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened to come forward.
The crash happened on A1A near Hurricane Grill and Wings February 1st. Investigators are still trying to figure out what led Robert Welch to be in the road outside of the crosswalk.
The 76-year-old from Leesburg, Virginia, died two days later. FHP says the driver stopped and has been cooperating with the investigation.
According to the FHP report, the crash appeared to be a low impact collision, with the vehicle traveling less than 10 mph at the time of the collision. The pedestrian did not respond to questioning by police, EMS, or medical personnel. It appeared as though he may have been deaf.
FHP says it is making a public appeal for witnesses to help them better understand why Welch was in the road at the time.
