First Alert Weather: Stormy Labor Day Weekend at times

Hot and stormy Labor Day Weekend ahead First Alert Meteorologist Trevor Gibbs is tracking the risk for storms this weekend.

Here’s what the First Alert Weather Team said you can expect for the forecast:

  • This morning is dry with a few areas of fog and temperatures in the mid-70s.
  • This afternoon will be hot and humid with highs in the low 90s and feels like temperatures in the low 100s.
  • Showers and storms will develop once again, especially across north Florida today south of I-10. Drier weather is expected for south Georgia.
  • Storms will contain frequent lightning strikes, very heavy rain, and gusty winds.
  • Sunday will feature similar heat and humidity with more afternoon storms. Georgia will see more storms in the late afternoon/early evening, some of which could be strong or severe.
  • Labor Day Monday will be hot with more showers and thunderstorms, some heavy.
  • Localized flooding is possible under any slow-moving storm over the next few days. Many neighborhoods will pick up an additional 1-3″ of rain over the next week.
