Florida State vs. Boise State game moved to Tallahassee

Jacksonville, FL — The threat of safety as a result of Hurricane Dorian has led to the Florida State vs. Boise State being moved from Jacksonville on Saturday night.

The match-up, first reported by WOKV in May of 2018, will kickoff on Saturday at Noon at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

Mayor Lenny Curry says the decision was based on the safety of citizens because in the event of an evacuation order, the game would not be conducive to the availability or free flow of traffic.

“We may have counties south of us that have issued evacuation orders and are coming up through our interstates. It would put too many lives at risk”, Curry said.

45,000 tickets were sold, 17,000 of those were local sales.

“Imagine a scenario where a football game is being played, ESPN is here, and I’ve ordered evacuations and the announcers are calling the game and they’re watching this play out that we’re telling people to leave our city. This was a tough decision, but it was the right decision”, Curry said.

Visit Jacksonville was tapped to reach out to out-of-town guests to work with hotels on cancellations.

Tickets to the game in Tallahassee will be $10 per seat. All tickets issued for the Jacksonville game will be refunded 100% and specific details will be communicated by early next week.
