Gov. DeSantis announces $6M grant for Cecil Airport

DeSantis at Cecil Airport

JACKSONVILLE, FL. — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is announcing a major investment for Jacksonville’s Cecil Airport.

While speaking at Cecil Airport Thursday morning, DeSantis awarded the Jacksonville Aviation Authority $6 million from the Florida’s Job Growth Grant Fund to support construction of nearly two miles of roadway at the Cecil Airport and Spaceport.

The governor said this will help support massive expansions of operation at Cecil Field and enable new companies to locate to the area.

Cecil Airport is also expected to more than double the number of employees, “adding 3,780 new jobs and bringing the total number of jobs at the airport to 6,251,” DeSantis added.

This comes as Generation Orbit, a company that develops hypersonic crafts and satellite launch systems, is scheduled to begin space launch operations at the airport next year.
