Jacksonville, FL — A Jacksonville contracting company owner has been arrested for an alleged insurance fraud scheme that included forging customer signatures, and in some cases, not delivering on work that was promised.
Florida’s Chief Financial Officer says Wyatt Green owns Storm Restoration Specialists, LLC. Investigators say Green was hired by four homeowners to do contracting work, and clients would assign their insurance benefits to him in order to allow him to file a claim, make repair decisions, and collect insurance payments without the homeowners’ involvement. Green would allegedly direct his staff to forge homeowners’ signatures and affix false mortgage lender endorsements on insurance checks they would directly receive, in order to deposit those checks.
In all, he’s accused of more than $40,000 in fraud.
Investigators further say Green’s employees admitted to forging customer signatures on construction documents. He further allegedly never completed some construction projects, and didn’t even start others.
Green has been arrested for grand theft, organized fraud, and forgery. The Florida CFO says he would face up to 35 years in prison if he’s convicted.
