Jacksonville Jewish community remembering 11 people killed at synagogue in Pittsburgh mass shooting

Following the mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue which left 11 people dead, the Jacksonville Jewish community came together Monday night to remember the lives lost in the shooting.

An estimated 1,000 people came out to honor and morn the lives lost in the shooting, during the event at the temple on San Jose in Goodby’s Creek, 11 candles were lit for the people who died.

Following the shooting in Pittsburgh, the temple on San Jose and the Jacksonville Jewish Center say they are actively working with Jacksonville Police and their security teams to make sure their community is safe.

“We communicated with our security team, which includes two employed retired police officers, and additional officer who resides on our campus, the JSO and the FBI.” The Jacksonville Jewish Center says on Facebook.

The center says they have been assured that there are no specific threats to the Jacksonville Jewish community.
