Jacksonville Police searching for suspect in Durkeeville shooting

Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is crediting ShotSpotter for alerting them to a shooting in the Durkeeville area during the overnight hours.

Police say they found a man near the intersection of Steele and Barnette Streets after ShotSpotter notified them of six gunshots. The man was found with a gunshot wound to the neck and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The victim was able to tell police he saw a red car leaving the scene after the shooting. It’s not clear if the gunshots came from the red car – police are still investigating the scene.
