Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal shooting in Avondale area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported shooting in the Avondale area near the intersection of Pinegrove Ave. and St. Johns Ave.

According to JSO, at around 8:45 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of St. Johns Ave. in reference to someone in the roadway.

A citizen reportedly called in hearing possible gunshots and locating an adult man lying in the street. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

JSO Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unite detectives are on the scene.
