Jacksonville woman faces up to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to stealing guns from local stores

Jacksonville, FL — A Jacksonville woman is facing up to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to stealing handguns from local gun stores.

According to court documents, Bruquanna Griffin, 21, was accused of working with another individual throughout the summer of 2017 to steal firearms together from at least three Jacksonville gun stores. We're told in one of the cases she stole as many as five guns from a single location.

Those documents say the other individual would distract sales staff, while Griffin would sneak behind the counter to steal the guns.

Griffin was eventually arrested on August 23, 2017, after she attempted to leave a gun store with two stolen guns in her purse. Investigators say she admitted to her involvement and confessed that the other individual would either keep, sell, or trade the guns for drugs.

Griffin is now charged with stealing firearms and conspiring to steal firearms from federally-licensed firearm dealers.

A sentencing date has not been set at this time.
