Jacksonville, FL — Jaguars Defensive End Dante Fowler has changed his plea in a misdemeanor battery case out of Pinellas County.
WOKV first told you last July that Fowler was arrested in St. Petersburg for battery and criminal mischief. An additional misdemeanor charge of petit theft was added soon after the arrest.
The charges stem from a confrontation with a person who commented about Fowler’s driving. Fowler allegedly hit the man and stomped on his glasses, then took the victim’s grocery bag and threw it in a lake.
Court records show Fowler has now changed his plea from “not guilty” to “nolo contendere”. He’s been sentenced to twelve months of probation, 75 hours of community service, and fines and fees. Fowler also cannot have any contact with the victim in the case.
Soon after the arrest, Fowler issued an apology to the Jaguars and the City of Jacksonville for his actions. He promised at that time that something like this would not happen again.
WOKV reached out to the Jags, and we’re told they are not providing comment about this.
