Jacksonville, FL — Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette has been arrested.
Jail records show Fournette is charged with speeding and knowingly driving with a suspended, canceled, or revoked license, as well as improper window tint.
Fournette’s arrest report shows he was driving westbound on Atlantic at a high rate of speed, when he passed a JSO Lieutenant. That Lieutenant then “paced” the vehicle for more than a mile, clocking him at 65-miles-per-hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone, according to the report. The vehicle was pulled over in a traffic stop by JSO.
The arrest report says when the Lieutenant asked the driver for his license, he said “I left it at the stadium, I’m a Jaguar player”. The driver, now identified by police as Fournette, then allegedly said he was late to get to the stadium. The arrest report says the Lieutenant asked for his license again, to which Fournette admitted he didn’t have one because it was suspended.
This same Lieutenant pulled Fournette over last July for going 80 miles-per-hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone, according to the arrest report. Police say Fournette gave the same initial answer about leaving his license at the stadium, at that time. The report says Fournette was given a written warning relating to the July incident, for reckless driving, failure to carry his license, and illegal window tint on that car- which was different than the one he was in today. When the Lieutenant asked Fournette today about whether he remembered the July incident, he said “whatever man”, according to the report.
In addition to the driving with a suspended license charge and speeding charge, the arrest report shows he faces two counts for improper window tint, because two windows that were tested were “well below the legal limits”.
Court records show Fournette’s license was suspended because of an open case in Neptune Beach. A November citation shows he was driving 37 miles-per-hour in a 25 mile-per-hour zone on Kings Road. Court records show the case was reported as D6, indicating the license involved was suspended. Court records further show the case was sent to collections for $227 in case fees on March 18th, and there is no clear indication in records whether that payment has since been resolved.
In response to the arrest, the Jacksonville Jaguars released a statement to WOKV.
“The Jacksonville Jaguars are aware of the situation involving running back Leonard Fournette and are continuing to gather more information. No further comment will be provided at this time,” the statement says.
