Jacksonville, FL — A 16-year-old is facing multiple charges, after what the Jacksonville Beach Police Department is calling a 'suspicious incident' at a private school.
According to Jacksonville Beach police, two staff members at St. Paul's Catholic School on 2nd Avenue North, noticed a suspicious person walking on the campus property, just before 11:00 AM Friday.
Police tell us when staff members attempted to make contact with this person, he did not acknowledge their presence and continued displaying 'abnormal' behavior. We're told that's when staff then reached out to the school's off-duty police officer.
When the officer made contact with this individual, police say they discovered he was in possession of two semiautomatic handguns. Police say he was also wearing a rolled-up stocking cap, which was actually a full ski mask head cover, when unrolled.
The individual provided several fake names, according to police. But has since been properly identified as a 16-year-old juvenile.
The 16-year-old suspect is now charged with two counts of possession of a firearm on school property, one count of possession of a weapon by a delinquent juvenile, and one count of giving false name to law enforcement.
Police haven’t yet provided any information on what this teen’s intentions were.
