JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — There was a heavy police presence near Charleys Cheesesteaks on 3rd Street in Jacksonville Beach early Sunday night after police said someone shot a person who was later hospitalized.
MONDAY MORNING: The Jacksonville Beach Police provided an update to the press, saying the victim struck by gunfire is in stable condition.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and no formal arrest has been made. Additional details will be released once they become available.
SUNDAY NIGHT: The suspected shooter was detained, and police continue to gather details about the shooting that occurred around 6:39 p.m. at 277 3rd Street South.
The business closed and as of 9 p.m., the area had been secured by police, who remained at the location conducting their investigation.
Police said the shooting followed a “disturbance,” but no other details were available.
