With hurricane season fast approaching, this proactive measure aims to minimize storm-related power outages caused by tree branches falling on power lines.
Although severe weather conditions like strong winds and heavy rains contribute to the majority of storm damage, tree branches interfering with power lines often result in prolonged service interruptions. During major storms, areas of the city with an abundance of mature trees are especially vulnerable.
Throughout the year, JEA employs professional trimming contractors who follow industry best practices and arboricultural methods to carry out tree maintenance procedures. This approach not only ensures the long-term health of the trees but also facilitates the delivery of uninterrupted electricity year-round.
