WATCH: JEA implodes part of the St. Johns River Power Park in Oceanway

Jacksonville FL — In less than 30 seconds Friday morning, two boilers and a stack came down leaving a huge cloud of dust in its wake at the St. Johns River Power Park off New Berlin Road.

We're told this is expected to be the final implosion at the power park. JEA says the eventual retirement of the power park is expected to benefit customers and will help reduce JEA's total carbon footprint by 30%. Currently the power park is scheduled to be completely decommissioned by the end of June 2020 and once the power park is completely decommissioned the land will go through a remediation and redevelopment phase.
