Jacksonville, FL — A bizarre twist of events--involving fish-- ends with a wanted sexual battery suspect off the streets.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announcing the arrest of Anthony Grier, 54, after police say he was recently approached by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer, as he was fishing on the Trout River.
According to Grier's arrest report, the FWC officer determined Grier had illegal fish on him and subsequently arrested him. The report says the officer then took Grier to a JSO station, after finding out he had two active warrants out for him-- one for armed sexual battery, the other for petit theft.
JSO tells us Grier was tied to a reported armed sexual battery that happened in the early morning hours of February 18th, along West 8th Street in the Springfield area.
Since February, police say the investigation continued, leading them to be able to issue a warrant for Grier's arrest on August 14th.
JSO says Grier was approached by the FWC officer on August 16th, leading to his arrest.
