JTA contracting company to install color-changing LED lights on Acosta Bridge

Acosta Bridge neon lights dark for the past year because they weren't 'functioning properly' Acosta Bridge

Jacksonville, FL — Your drive over the Acosta Bridge in downtown Jacksonville could look different by next year.

That's Jacksonville Transportation Authority spokesperson, John Finotti, confirms JTA is awarding a contract to Miller Electric to install color-changing LED lights on the bridge.

The bridge previously featured neon lights, but they've been dark for years. WOKV told you back in January 2017, when a Jacksonville City Council member said the lights had gotten too old and were no longer functioning properly.  ]

It's expected the installation of these new lights will cost about $2.6 million.

JTA hopes to have the lights installed by mid-2020.
