JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville City Councilman Kevin Carrico is not running for reelection, he announced Monday.
Carrico was eligible to run for another term in March.

Action News Jax told you last week that he left his role as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida.
Carrico has been immersed in controversy for the past year since Action News Jax revealed a text message exchange that showed he tried to remove a JEA board member as a “big favor” to a friend.
That led to a State Attorney’s Office criminal investigation.

Carrico said he and his wife, Daysi Jacobson Carrico, are expanding an advisory firm called Alignment Global Partners to downtown Jacksonville that will focus on tax expertise, executive leadership, and business strategy.
Carrico shared the following statement with Action News Jax’s Ben Becker:
“I’ve decided not to seek reelection next year, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve District 4 and our city. Right now, I’m excited about this next chapter and the opportunity Daysi and I have to build and grow our businesses here in Jacksonville, while I continue serving my district through the remainder of my term.“
