Both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X are in high demand and hard to find.
Action News Jax Alicia Tarancon was at the GameStop in Mandarin Friday morning as our cameras were rolling to catch a glimpse at the payoff.
14-year-old Wajah Nelms was the first in line camped outside GameStop and he apparently made friends with all these other people also hoping to get a gaming system.
“I feel good. The box is not even as heavy as I thought it would be,” Wajah said.
He and his mother waited in line since Wednesday. At one point Friday morning the line outside was wrapped around the building with excited gamers.
Matt Gillis and Dylan Hodges told us what games they were going to buy once they got their hands on their new gaming systems.
“Really just 2k, I’m an avid 2k player. That and Call of Duty,” Matt Gillis said.
“If can get a PS5 I’m looking to get Demon Souls, Definitely COD. Maybe if I can get an Xbox, Halo but anything that the boys are playing,” Dylan Hodges said.
Others like Johnny Wang paid a premium price so they wouldn’t have to wait in line at GameStop.
“When I got there, there was like 20 people in line and the dude was like hey if you want it just give me 100 over and he just hooked me up,” Wang said.
But not everyone was so lucky, supplies were limited.
Just before the store in Mandarin opened, a GameStop employee came out and handed out tickets to the first 15 to 20 people in line.
The rest had to go home empty handed.
Wajah’s mother told she was relieved after getting their console.
The smile on her son’s face was worth the wait.
“I’m excited. I’m so happy you all have no idea. I’m so excited that I could go to bed,” laughed Wajah’s mother Margo Chappel.
