Multiple traffic fatalities under investigation in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Fl — Last night around 9:30 p.m. a woman was crossing New Kings Road south of Dunn Avenue when an unknown vehicle struck her and drove away from the scene. The victim, an adult woman, died at the scene. As of right now JSO is not in contact with any witnesses from the scene.

Early this morning Sergeant Robert Peck with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit released the information on the hit-and-run in a briefing. He urges anyone with information to contact his unit or Crime Stoppers.

Earlier that day two separate fatalities occurred in the afternoon. At around 1:30 p.m. a 26-year-old motorcyclist died when he lost control of his motorcycle on I-295 near Merrill Road. His motorcycle went across the grassy shoulder and over the ramp where he hit a tree and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

At around 2:40 p.m. a pickup truck suddenly drove off of Rogero Road where he collided with both a dumpster and utility pole, nearly ejecting the driver and causing the truck to land on its roof. He was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
