Jacksonville, FL — Just over a week after a woman was murdered inside her own home, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has now charged her son with her murder.
WOKV first told you June 19th that Voncile Heath was found dead in her home on Mossbrook Court, off Normandy and Chaffee on the Westside. JSO determined her death to be a murder.
A few days later, her son- 26-year-old Marcus Heath- was caught in Delaware on a stolen vehicle charge. Law enforcement in Delaware say Heath led a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle, through multiple states. He was also held as an out-of-state fugitive at that time.
Duval County Jail records confirm Heath has been booked and charged with murder, in addition to grand theft and operating a car with a suspended or revoked license.
JSO says Heath was interviewed once he was extradited back, but refused to speak with detectives.
Police haven’t released any information about a possible motive.
NEW INFORMATION: Today JSO confirmed that Voncile Heath's son, Marcus Heath, is the only suspect in her murder. He's been charged and booked into the Duval County jail after being extradited from Delaware @ActionNewsJax https://t.co/e9xE7paK2t
