Jacksonville — Following Governor Rick Scott's appointment of 2 people to serve on the Jacksonville City County during the suspension of council members Reggie Brown and Katrina Brown, The Office of City Council says the 2 new people will be sworn in on Thursday at 3pm in City Hall.
The office says Ju’Coby Pittman will represent District 8 which was represented by Katrina Brown’s, and Terrance Freeman will represent District 10 which was represented by Reggie Brown.
Freeman says he’s got lots of ideas for the district.
“I’m looking to have some townhall meetings here in the near future, so I can get in front of the residents and hear the top priorities.” Freeman says.
Freeman says its an honor to be appointed to the city council.
“There’s plenty of work to do and I’m ready to get out there and get started.” Freeman says.
The Office of City Council says Freeman is the regional director at Ygrene Energy Fun, while Pittman is the president of Clara White Mission, Inc.
The office says Pittman will serve on the Land Use and Zoning Committee and the Rules Committee, and Freeman will serve on the Neighborhoods, Community Services, Public Health and Safety Committee as well as the Transportation, Energy and Utilities Committee.
New city council President Aaron Bowman says he’s excited to start the new city council year with 19 council members in place.
“I personally know both of them and could not ask for a more qualified and dedicated additions to city council.” Bowman says.
We told you last month when Katrina Brown and Reggie Brown were both suspended by the Governor after they were indicted on fraud, money laundering and other charges. Both pleaded not guilty.
