ORANGE PARK, Fla. — New video shows a student and a staff member at Orange Park High School confronting each other before the two ended up on the ground during an incident Tuesday.
The video was posted on Action News Jax’s Facebook page comments following our initial reporting on the incident. It shows what happened before the school employee was seen straddling the student.
In the new video, the person that students and parents told Action News Jax is a school employee and the student confront each other and roll on the ground. The student can be seen punching the employee in the head.
After about 20 seconds, the employee pins the student to the ground. His hands can be seen near the student’s neck.
The video Action News Jax first showed Tuesday was recorded by a student. That video shows the employee after he has the teen under control. The student’s mother told Action News Jax that after seeing multiple angles, it started as a confrontation.
Several parents have since expressed concerns for the safety of their students.
In a statement to Action News Jax, the sheriff’s office said it is investigating.
The school district said it is aware of the incident and investigating but cannot comment.
