NOAA issues revised forecast for extremely active hurricane season

Jacksonville, FL — With nine named storms having already formed early in the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane season, most recently Isaias, the updated forecast calls for an extremely active next few months.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued its updated forecast, calling for 19 - 25 named storms, 7 - 11 hurricanes, and 3 - 6 major hurricanes.

The NOAA forecast is for 85% above normal season probability. On Wednesday, Colorado State University revised its forecast, and also increased the number of named storms to 24. Its average is 12.
