The man accused of stealing about $2,000 worth of sunglasses from a shop in Orange Park has now been arrested, after being caught trying to steal at another location.
Clay County deputies first asked the public for help tracking down the suspect, now identified as 49-year-old Richard Hollner of Jacksonville Beach, last week. They had a suspect on camera stealing about a dozen pairs of Oakley sunglasses from a LensCrafters on Blanding Boulevard July 16th. CCSO says the suspect broke in to the store with a piece of concrete.
Investigators now say a tip helped lead them to Hollner. Arrest reports obtained by WOKV show he was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer at a Belk on Wells Road in Orange Park on July 24th, when he was seen putting a $100 bottle of cologne in his backpack. Belk decided not to pursue charges, but the LPO notified CCSO, because he believed Hollner was the suspect in the LensCrafters burglary.
Deputies searched Hollner’s backpack in order to recover the Belk cologne, and in the process found drug paraphernalia, according to the arrest report.
Hollner has now been arrested for burglary of a structure for the LensCrafters incident and possession of drug equipment for what was found in his backpack.
