Police: DUI suspect blew more than 3 times the legal limit

Four people hurt in a violent St. Johns County crash three months ago and finally they learn the driver responsible for the crash is arrested. 

38 year-old Brian Peters was arrested Monday evening at his home by the U.S. Marshal's Service with assistance from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

He is charged with three counts of DUI with serious injury, one count of DUI with injury, two counts of DUI with property damage, and one count each of DUI and possession of drugs and paraphernalia.  He was booked into the Duval County Jail on bonds totaling $36,500.

The crash in April on County Road 210 and St. Johns Parkway left three people seriously hurt.  A fourth passenger had minor injuries.

Police say Peters allegedly ran a red light and struck a 2010 Chrysler sedan, with four occupants, that was turning onto C.R. 210 from St. Johns Parkway.

The driver of the passenger car, identified as Lauren R. Penney, 19, St. Johns, was transported to Shands Jacksonville with serious injuries at the time.

Two of the passengers, identified as Dylan D. Dodson, 17, St. Johns, and Jennifer A. Hawkinson, 19, Orange Park, sustained life threatening injuries at the time and were taken to  Shands Jacksonville and Orange Park Medical Center respectively.

The fourth passenger, Jessica Chamberland, 18, St. Johns, was transported to Baptist South Hospital with minor injuries.

Cops say Peters had a blood alcohol content over three times the legal limit, 0.274.
