Man in critical condition after shooting near Cedar Hills neighborhood, suspect unknown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported one man is in critical condition after being shot near a Cedar Hills neighborhood at 7600 Melissa Ct. North.

According to JSO, at around 6:45 p.m., officers discovered a mid-20-year-old male suffering multiple gunshot wounds in Melissa Ct. and Ricker Rd. Westside.

The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department transported the victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition due to his injuries.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, forensics, and detectives are on the scene working to learn the cause of the shooting.

An eyewitness told Action News Jax that they saw the victim staggering towards the homes in the neighborhood.

At this time, there is currently no description of the shooter or the events leading up to the incident.
