Fishermen on the Jacksonville Beach Pier were stunned after witnessing the severed body of a large king mackerel fish many are convinced was the workings of a shark.
According to seasoned fisherman, Lorenzo Ponder, the almost 20 pound half eaten king mackerel is more evidence something is indeed lurking in our shores.
"To see something about this thick around get bit clean through, just imagine if that was person out there," said Ponder.
It happened just one day after a woman said she was also bitten by a shark in Atlantic Beach.
The surfer tells Action News she has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. She'll be seeing a plastic surgeon to remove some of the shark's teeth that were left embedded in her foot.
Ponder said the recent events means he won't be going for a swim anytime soon.
"I wouldn't swim in that water but I see people coming out everyday and they're coming out farther and farther and you see more sharks getting closer and closer," said Ponder.
According to experts, when a shark attacks a human it's almost always a case of mistaken identity because it thinks our limbs are fish.
