Rash of weekend shootings across Jacksonville leaves several injured, 1 seriously

Jacksonville, FL — At least six separate shootings reported across Jacksonville over the weekend leaves one man in serious condition and several others injured.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says around 9:40 pm Friday, officers arrived at the Safari Discount Beverage store on Norwood Avenue, when they found a 39-year-old woman shot in the face. The woman was taken to UF Health Shands with non-life threatening injuries.

JSO says initial investigation shows at least five rounds were fired in the direction of the convenient store, and bullet casings were found in the Barney Browning Park across the street and on two vehicles.

Then around 4:20 pm Saturday, JSO responded to a shooting at 2100 Brooklyn Rd in the Royal Terrace area, just south of Carter G. Woodson Elementary School, when they found a gray Dodge Charger in the road with several bullet holes and heavy front-end damage.

Shortly afterwards, JSO found an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to UF Health in non-life threatening condition.

Then around 1 pm Sunday, officers arrived at the 3500 block of Dawson Street in the Grand Park neighborhood, when they found a man in life-threatening condition from a gunshot wound.

Then shortly before 4 pm Sunday, police were called out to the Kings Ridge Apartments on the westside, when they found an adult male suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Initial investigation shows the victim was on foot on West 11th Street when the suspect came out from between two apartment buildings and began shooting at the victim before fleeing the scene on foot.

Then around 5 pm Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 7500 block of Lem Turner Road, down the street from Lake Forest Elementary School, when they found a 15-year-old with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigation reveals the victim was in the 1700 block of W. Edgewood Avenue when an unknown individual in a white vehicle began to shoot at them. The victim then contacted police from the Lem Turner location.

Then around 1:45 am Monday, JSO responded to the 200 block of Alvis Road in the Whitehouse area, when they found a man with non-life threatening injuries following a shooting.

JSO says all involved parties remained at the scene.
