Jacksonville, FL — Starting on the first of October, the Salvation Army in Jacksonville will begin to accept applications for Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance at the Towers Center of Hope at 900 W. Adams Street through the 13th.
The organization says applications will be accepted Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 11:30 am and 1 pm – 3 pm. Applications will also be accepted on Saturday strictly from 9:00 am 11:30 am. Applications will not be accepted on Sundays.
"The heartbeat of the Salvation Army is to bring hope to those who need a helping hand, and at no other time during the year are financial strains felt more than at Christmas. It is truly remarkable to see how our community comes around families in need throughout Angel Tree program to make Christmas a joyous time of year," says Major Bert Tanner, the Area Commander for Northeast Florida.
Assistance includes Thanksgiving food baskets with a turkey and ingredients to make a home-cooked meal, as well as the Angel Tree program which provides new toys and clothes for children ages 12 and younger. Those seeking for assistance can apply for both if needed.
Families must provide information and documentation about their household along with completing an application to qualify for assistance. Click here for a full list of the documents that you must bring when applying.
