Security guard shoots armed suspect during robbery at Yulee internet cafe

Jacksonville, FL — Four people are facing charges of attempted murder and robbery with a firearm following Sunday’s robbery at Tracks Arcade in Yulee.  A security guard shot one of the suspects multiple times Sundary around 7pm on SR 200.

According to Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper, three masked men entered the establishment, one was armed with a gun. He ran toward the armed security guard and pointed a Glock 9mm with a 30 round magazine directly at her face as she backed into a break room.  She shot the man several times, striking him once in the arm and once in the backside, according to Leeper.  That suspect, later identified as Lance White, was taken to UF Health in Jacksonville.  He was still hospitalized as of Monday morning.

The other suspects fled in a burgundy colored Chevy Malibu, where two women were waiting.  A Nassau Deputy heard the call and stopped the vehicle near I-95 and SR 200.  All the people inside were detained.  The driver, later identified as Ebony Hixon, was sitting on a can of bear spray.  A handgun, which was reported stolen in Jacksonville, was found in the car.

20-year-old Josiah Smith, 20-year-old Lance White, 19-year-old Damani Zvobgo, and 29-year-old Ebony Hixon are all charged with robbery with a firearm and attempted murder.  A fifth person in the car was not charged, as deputies say she did not have any prior knowledge of the robbery.

Deputies are investigating whether the suspects may be connected to a Friday robbery at the Beach House Game Room at U.S. 17 in Yulee as it involved two masked men that fit the description of the suspects in Sunday’s robbery. A handgun and a can of bear spray were used in Friday’s robbery, and the vehicle description was simliar, too.
